5 amazing survival stories that will give you the power to live

Ever heard of a man who came back from the dead not once but twice? The human body is so fragile. You may find it hard to deal with the slightest chill sometimes. But the endurance level of the human body both physically and mentally is beyond what we can ever imagine.

The amazing bonds with our loved ones prove the human body isn't all that powerless. Sometimes we may have to learn the hard way, but it's worth it. These 5 survival stories are about to show you what it means to live life!

5. Emerging from the ocean floor

At the height of World War II, a Soviet submarine with 14 onboard carried on its regular test missions. When they shot the first torpedo it was a dud and didn't leave the blast tube. It didn't seem unusual so the crews moved on to their next mission. Suddenly the failed torpedo exploded sending the vessel to the bottom of the ocean.

The crew was uncontrollably panicked. One of the crew members took out a gun and started shooting warning shots force the crew to calm down. The only escape route was the empty torpedo tube. But in order to do so, the crew had to acclimate first to the water pressure outside the submarine.

So how did they do that? They let in water until each of their bodies was as pressurized as the outside environment. The men took their time, with their equipment slowly ascended to the surface.

Some took months to recover but all 14 members of the Soviet project 613 submarine survived. If anxiety had taken them over, none of them would.

4. The girl who fell from the sky

Juliane Koepcke was a young German girl living in Peru with her zoologists' parents. She boarded a flight with her mother to visit a different part of the country.

While in the air the flight was unimaginably hit by lightning. The plane immediately exploded. Julian fell from the sky, trapped in her seat, two miles to earth landing in the Amazonian rainforest.

She suffered from a broken collarbone and a loss of vision. Inspecting the surroundings Julian realized she was the sole survivor of the crash. Learned from her zoologists' parents, Julian knew following a water source will lead her to civilization. Amidst all her pain she did this for nine days.

She didn't get any sleep due to her exposed wounds that were infested by bugs and worms. Eventually, she found an old boat with a can of gasoline. She poured the gasoline on her exposed wounds and counted 35 maggots crawling out of her wounds.

Finally, the owners of the boat found Julian and took a seven-hour journey to airlift her to a hospital. Julian survived and later published a book about her story titled; "When I fell from the sky."

3. A rugby team that survived a plane crash but went through hell

In 1972 a charter plane carrying a team of rugby players went down in the Andes mountains. 45 passengers were on board including staff and parents of some of the players. The team was on their way to a match in Chile when the plane crashed.

It was extremely cold, snowy, and rescue efforts seemed so far away. Out of the 45, 19 people perished from either the crash or the avalanche caused by the crash. There was no food or shelter. As many of the survivors were young and athletic the determination for survival was high.

The survivors were finally down to 16. Stranded in snow and ice, frequent avalanches and snowstorms were more threatening. As the days went by the starvation was at its peak for all. They even made the horrible decision of eating the flesh of the dead passengers. They agreed with each other if any one of them dies the others can eat their flesh too to survive.

72 days went by until two men finally decided to concur the mountains and reach out for help. Guess what, they made it! Finally, the rest of the 14 survivors were rescued. Despite the conspiracies of cannibalism, the team marked the 40th anniversary in 2012. They played the same match that they were supposed to play in Chile.

2. The man who woke from the dead twice

Beck Weathers is one of the sole survivors of the "Mount Everest disaster" that occurred in 1996. With the experience of climbing the Vinson Massif Antarctica, Mount Everest was the second on Weathers's bucket list. Unfortunately, during the slow ascend the Oxygen levels started plummeting unexpectedly. Weathers was affected badly and couldn't move on further.

The complete trek was scheduled for 12 hours. The group knew waiting for Weathers could be a death trap for all, so Weathers was stranded on aside. The expedition leader Rob Hall promised to come back for him. 10 hours went by Weathers who is weak and suffocating kept waiting for Rob Hall. What he didn't know was Rob Hall and another climber perished themselves at the south summit to an avalanche.

The rest of the group descending saw Weathers who was in a really bad condition. He had slept with his jacket open and without a glove. This is a serious mistake in mount Everest. The frostbites and Oxygen levels can bring death in no time in extreme weather. Guessing he would not survive as he is unable to even move, they left him for dead.

Next, Weathers was found by a doctor who also thought Weathers is already dead. Proving all the mathematical probabilities are wrong, Weathers suddenly woke up from his hypothermic coma. Surprisingly he walked all the way down until he reached the low-level camp. However, there were consequences. Weathers lost several of his limbs and his nose to frostbites. But he was left for dead twice and survived!

1. When Bungy jumping goes wrong

After graduation, 22-year-old Australian girl, Erin Langworthy decided to go on a trip to Zambia. While she was doing a safari she wanted to take an advantage of an activity offered. Bungee Jumping! As it looked exciting and she has never done it before Erin decided to go for it. She witnessed few people including her friends do the jump safely over the Zambezi river.

It was Erin's turn. She was ready to be strapped and jump over the Zambezi, the home to a large population of crocodiles. Nervous but seeing others safely complete the jump Erin thought hers too will be a typical one. A guide helped take the appropriate position, arms spread wide, cable strapped to her legs.

The guide snugged her off sending her flying over the river. Nearly all the way down, the jump looked normal until the code snapped at the end. Erin plummeted towards the water from 350 feet above. Despite the Bungee cord still attached to her, and the swirling current of the river Erin tried to stay calm.

Unable to swim with the Bungee cord Erin was held beneath the water until she struggled to free herself. After a great struggle of 40 minutes, she was finally pulled out of the water. Erin was immediately rushed to a hospital in Victoria Falls. Luckily with only a broken collarbone, Erin spent two weeks at the hospital recovering. The Bungee company had assured what happened to her will never happen to someone else again.

A news interviewer's final question for Erin was "Will you Bungee jump again?" Erin smiled and replied, "Not anytime sooner but I will again!"
